Read Next Recs: New Book Ideas for Toddlers & preschoolers Based on Their Favorites (Part 4)
We’re back with another round of one of our favorite series… READ NEXT RECS!
The idea is simple: introduce a new book to your toddler or preschooler based on one they already know and love.
So if you’re this close to hiding a certain book on top of the refrigerator because you truly cannot read it one more time (but you won’t, because your little one loves it so much) we hope this list helps you find a new favorite (or two!).
Without further ado, here’s Part 4 of READ NEXT RECS!
*And if you missed them, you can catch up on Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3!
GIANT PARSNIP SOUP: A group of friends sets out on an adventure to make a delicious soup together. A fun story with plenty of repetition and counting along the way! AMAZON || BOOKSHOP
ONE DUCK STUCK: Another great counting book! The rhymes, repetition, and group effort give similar vibes to Little Blue Truck, and we think this one is sure to be a hit! AMAZON || BOOKSHOP
LET’S PLAY MONSTERS: You really can’t go wrong with a Lucy Cousins book! We love the playful rhymes, vibrant illustrations, and just-right amount of silliness. AMAZON || not available on bookshop.org
CRANE JANE: Playful, rhythmic, and full of fun sounds to imitate as you read. P.S. If you like this one, you’d love Dig! (by the same author), too. AMAZON || BOOKSHOP
RABBIT RESIDENCE: It’s an adorable book about rabbits who are neighbors that is rich with fun details and offers something new to discover each time you read it together. AMAZON || BOOKSHOP
KATE WHO TAMED THE WIND: A story for the kids who will save our planet. We love how it sparks meaningful conversations while introducing rich vocabulary and encouraging children to think big, solve problems, and care for the world around them. AMAZON || BOOKSHOP
WELCOME TO PRESCHOOL: A fun, interactive peek inside a preschool classroom! Little ones can explore familiar preschool routines—from hanging up backpacks to making art, reading books, and playing with new friends. AMAZON || BOOKSHOP
PART-TIME PRINCESS: Sure, there are princess crowns and fancy dresses, but there are also mud puddles, dragons, and trolls! By day she’s an ordinary little girl, but at night she’s a problem-solving princess with a kingdom to take care of. AMAZON || not available on bookshop.org
The library is a GREAT place to check these books out and see what your little one thinks! We hope these “Read Next” recommendations help you find a few new favorites to enjoy together.
Looking for even more ideas? Be sure to check out Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of our Read Next Recs series for more toddler and preschool book recommendations.
Happy reading,
Katie + Carly
