Waitlist

12 Months to 3 Years
We love that you took action on your concerns, but you ended up on a waitlist–that is so tough. Your intuition was exactly right. Because while it’s true that some kids do catch up on their own, we won’t know which ones will and won’t until after it’s already happened.
Our advice: While you’re waiting, there is so much you can do at home to help support your child–starting now.
Here’s your parent action plan:
Get familiar with toddler communication milestones.
Learn simple ways to encourage speech development at home (we say this to families on a waitlist AND those who are already in speech therapy, because what you do at home makes all the difference).
Try not to worry.
Remember, this is not your fault!
Our TalkToddler course teaches simple strategies speech therapists use to help toddlers start talking, say more words, and speak in sentences. It’s perfect for parents who are tired of waiting and worrying. And toddlers struggling to be understood!
âś“ Reduce toddler frustration
âś“ Increase signs, words + phrases
âś“ Add language to daily routines
âś“ Connect through play
WE KNOW HOW IT IS…
If your child is talking less than others their age, and you’re stuck on a waitlist, you might be starting to worry.
You know how crucial these years are, and you want to do everything you can to help your toddler.
It can be a really heavy part of being a parent. Your stress rises every time you meet a talkative child their age. You worry that your child is behind. And you don’t know how to fix it.
You try talking to your friends with kids, but they don’t know how to help. Well-meaning family members ask questions that make you feel bad. The evaluation and/or therapy are months off due to long waits.
And all the while, your parental instincts are growing louder and louder! If you’re in this now, we want you to know that you’re not alone, that your concerns are valid, and that there’s so much support available—for your child and you. Starting right here and now!
We know an appointment like this can bring up some nerves and feelings (for you and for them) so we want to give you a roadmap and explain exactly what to expect.
Spoiler: You did not. We wrote this post to reassure you, share information on delays, and provide you with clear next steps you can take when you’re ready.
These are books we love using with little ones in therapy and with our own toddlers! So we think they’ll be good choices for your family, too.
