Best books for introducing a new sibling

First of all, congratulations! If you’re reading this, it’s likely because your family is growing. We are so happy for you! But at the same time we know this time can bring on some worries about your older child or children and how they may adjust. Books can be a very helpful tool when it comes to big transitions — whether it moving, starting preschool, or an upcoming trip! Books can help little ones ease that uncomfortable feeling of the unknown and give you an opportunity to connect and chat about allll the feelings (because toddlers have A LOT of feelings).

One request that keeps coming up over on Instagram, is a curated list of books we like to introduce toddlers to the idea of welcoming a new baby to the family. If you're expecting, or have friends who are, this might be a great post to save for your next trip to the bookstore or library!

What books do you recommend for introducing a new sibling to the family?

These are our top favorites, especially with toddlers and preschoolers in mind. We waded through the waters to develop a curated, developmentally appropriate list, so you don’t have to! We hope it helps!

We’ve included links to Amazon, but we always encourage you to check out your local bookstore or library to find these titles!
